OUR MISSION

To Empower Transformation with Hand-crafted Headbands

All the people of Heavenly Himalayan - from the women who lovingly handmake our headbands to our amazing international team - are part of a greater shift in the business world.

Our mission? To use our headbands to create positive changes in business.

Heavenly Himalayan creates positive change by hiring women from Nepal and breaking the cycle of poverty. Their skillful hands transform raw wool into something like magic - a headband that aligns your crown chakra. The vibration of our headbands raises the vibration of every person who wears them.

We believe that making a quality product with a powerful team of creators and aligned business practices makes our headband into something more than protective headwear. We see ourselves as alchemists - transforming wool into energetic alignment.

Our products embody Heavenly Himalayan’s values of sustainability, teamwork, simplicity, and purpose.

And the change all starts with one. One business, one person, one headband, and we can change the world.

Keep reading for a look at Heavenly Himalayan’s inspiration and the timeline that led us to create our modern spiritual business.

Our Vision

Who Are You?

You are a conscious consumer who knows the power of your purchase and wants to invest in sustainable options. Like our Heavenly Himalayan team, you want to raise the vibration of the planet with every purchase, no matter how small.

Why We Started:

We founded Heavenly Himalayan to help the brave women of Kathmandu sell their crafted handmade woolen headbands online. We support them so they can support themselves.

Our partnership has empowered these women to be more self-confident and independent. It allows them to send their children to better schools and provide warm clothing in the harsh winters. Our support creates a ripple effect, improving the lives of these women so that they can improve the lives of their children and communities in turn.

How It’s Done:

Through authentic storytelling and conscious business practices. Our headbands are created from natural wool, handwoven by the women in Nepal, and distributed across the world. Our international team works together to provide a sustainable, consciously-created headband that will keep you warm in any season.

Heavenly Himalayan Founders

Ellie Ter Haar - Founder of Heavenly Himalayan

ELLIE TER HAAR

Founder and CEO

While growing up in Michigan, USA, Ellie always dreamed of far-off lands. She started traveling at 16 and was fortunate enough to experience a vast world, rich with possibilities. In her travels, she met people from all over the world, including the Tsaatan ‘Reindeer people’ in Mongolia and a spiritual master in Tibet. Her lifelong passion for travel eventually led her to Nepal where she was inspired to create Heavenly Himalayan.

Business Partners

PRAN MAYA KHADGI

Kathmandu Liason and Business Partner

Ellie met Pran Khadji working at a children's school in a remote settlement on the Tibetan border. Pran’s generous spirit was infectious. Ellie found herself inspired and humbled by the innate goodness of the Nepali people. She also saw in Pran an astute businesswoman, with the energy and drive to help her people in a genuine way.

From Ellie and Pran’s meeting, Heavenly Himalayan was born! Since then, we have created (with the help and support of so many others) a distribution network that links Kathmandu to our warehouses in Alabama, Tennessee, and California, as well as several e-commerce platforms.

We now know we have an unprecedented opportunity to reinvent, create, and bring heart and innovation to the business world in a meaningful and empowering way!

Himalayan Inspiration

Himalayan Sunset - Heavenly Himalayan

Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay, a Sherpa of Nepal, became the first explorers to make the impossible possible.

Together, they successfully achieved their goal of reaching the summit of Mount Everest - which at 29,035 feet above sea level - is the highest point on Earth.

Everyone has their own Mount Everest - a challenging goal you were put on Earth to climb and conquer.

At Heavenly Himalayan, our Everest is to empower transformation in business with sustainable, hand-crafted headbands. We are here to create the changes we want to see in business.

Ultimately there is only one business- the business of human well-being.”

Heavenly Himalayan Timeline

Ellis Story - Heavenly Himalayan timeline

EARLY YEARS

From a young age, Ellie was fascinated by people who transformed ideas into products or services in the marketplace. She grew up around influential entrepreneurs and saw the power they had to transform nothing into something wonderful. It was like a little bit of magic.

Now she sees that sort of entrepreneurial alchemy as the new spirit of transformation in business.

MARCH 2020 - Heavenly Himalayan is born!

Ellie spent years working for corporations but when Covid struck in 2020, she knew it was time to create a bridge from the corporate to the spiritual world. She spent a few years sharpening the saw of her spiritual life through yoga, meditation, and immersion in the wisdom traditions.

Heavenly Himalayan was born out of a desire to showcase connection and love in the marketplace.  Connection saves us – our health, our lives, and our planet - and gives us faith that there is so much beyond our own self-importance. We are all a part of a larger integrated whole - a home to which we all belong.

The journey of creation and distribution for our headbands is an international collaboration. Our Nepali wool blend is handwoven into simple headbands by women in Nepal, distributed internationally via e-commerce platforms like Amazon, and operated by a team of people from all over the world.

The headbands themselves are lovingly made through our fair trade practices. Our wool is ethically sourced and woven with so much goodness that you can FEEL it when you wear it!

We are proud to support and work with so many different people across the world to make this vision a reality.

2022

Our first year in business! Our final products are always hand-inspected before they are shipped to our USA warehouses and into the marketplace. Once purchased, they make their way to the heads of hikers, skiers, and moms playing in the snow with their children.

Our clients are active and adventurous. They value sustainable and thoughtfully made products. But more than that, they want to help create a world that reflects a deep heart and interconnectedness.

Norbu Tensing

JUNE 2023

Our founder Ellie ter Haar attends the 70th anniversary of the Mt. Everest, Nepal summit with Norbu Tensing and Peter Hillary (the sons of the original climbers). The wool for our headbands comes from the upper regions of these Himalaya mountains and we are proud to be a small part of such an incredible legacy.

The Future of Heavenly Himalayan

The world is moving toward a greater level of consciousness where businesses no longer have to choose between distributing products that people love and those that make a positive impact.

Join our movement to build a more humane work environment across the world.

Here are just some of the wonderful people we work with at our foundation & the children we help to educate!

THANK YOU!

Without our team, none of this would be possible.  Heartfelt thanks to Jordyn Bailey, Jane Francis, Miriam Godfrey, Erika Grooten, Mieke Grooten, Jamie Hanna, Britney Vari, Mitchel Vari, and Pernelle Vari for their tireless contributions.

We send our love and gratitude to Pran, Prem, and Baby Karma in Nepal for their help in moving around and through any language and cultural barriers.
